My Gmail email signature is different on my phone and desktop computer
03-Feb-2011
I have been battling with this for a while now, and I just could not figure it out. I changed my email signature last August to say I was going on holidays and everything worked fine.
I then changed it back after that time however when I sent an email from my Blackberry 9700 using Google Gmail app
http://www.google.com/mobile/mail/ I would have the old signature still.
I looked at all the settings on my mobile and also looked at the settings on Gmail and could not find anything. I Googled it and found stuff on the Blackberry email but they were talking about BIS accounts. I use pre paid not the Blackberry Data Plan.
Side note
On that note there have been rumblings that you will soon be able to use
your phone like a credit card and just swipe it at the checkout, the
charges will be added to your phone bill.
This is quite scary as the main reason that I am on Pre Paid is to make sure that I don't get high bills as I have happened in the past,
I don't want my Telco managing my money. I put Australian Telecommunication companies right up there with HR consultants, Real Estate agents and Used Car Salesmen. I would try not to give them anything as they will use it to take more.
Back to the solution
So I was looking around Gmail Settings and saw that there was a dropdown above the signature, I think this is new but cannot be sure. You see when Gmail send from you mobile phone it sends from your @gmail.com account which has a different signature to your Gmail @yourdomainname.com signature.
This was the solution. Very simple really.
